Brian Kendrick was back in WWE at Survivor Series, working as a producer alongside Jason Jordan for the SmackDown Women’s Title match that saw Ronda Rousey successfully retain her title over Shotzi.
This surprised a lot of people, not only just fans but those in WWE, due to what happened after his previous stint with the company.
His last match in WWE came in October 2020, and he then transitioned to a backstage role before WWE gave him his release from his contract in February 2022.
He was set to make his AEW debut on Dynamite against Jon Moxley just a day after his WWE departure. Fans posted old clips of him giving conspiracy theories related to the Holocaust and more, which led to AEW not using him.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Rousey asked for him to be brought back as a favor to Rousey for her Survivor Series match as he was her original trainer.
“So, what happened was, Ronda Rousey…Brian Kendrick was Ronda Rousey’s original wrestling trainer. She suggested…she asked for him to be brought in for her match with Shotzi. He was in on Saturday, and it was not a hire. You could say it was a tryout, I wouldn’t say it wasn’t a tryout, but it really wasn’t like a normal tryout. It was more Ronda Rousey asked for him to help her. Jason Jordan also produced it, but she asked for Brian to be brought in, so they brought him in.”
