Indiana State Police detectives are investigating an officer involved shooting death in Terre Haute.
Patrol Officer Adam Noel was called to a domestic dispute on First Avenue Thursday morning.
Upon arrival, he heard a woman inside calling for help.
Officer Noel forced his way inside the home and was confronted by 42-year-old James Ready holding a knife.
Officer Noel shot Ready when Ready approached him after refusing orders to drop the weapon.
Ready later died.
Ready’s wife was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Noel has been placed on administrative leave, which is customary in officer-involved shootings.
