A sewer line installation for a new neighborhood in Manatee County nearly turned catastrophic for one subcontractor.
The man “became entrapped” in a trench he was working on last week in a new construction neighborhood off Moccasin Wallow Road, according to a Hillsborough Fire Rescue social media post.
After an hour of attempting to free himself, various rescue services arrived to help free the man, the fire-rescue Facebook post said. The rescue attempt lasted more than five hours and the man was taken to Tampa General Hospital in stable condition, the post said.
Among those helping in the rescue were the North River Fire District, Parrish Fire District, Manatee County EMS, Bradenton Fire Department, East Manatee Fire Rescue and Hillsborough Fire Rescue, the post said.
