WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (WFRV) – The body of Francesco Di Filippo, a Chicago native who went missing on April 3 when a boat capsized on the Wisconsin River, has been recovered after a nearly three-month-long search.
A press release from the Wisconsin Dells Police Department was sent out around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, reporting that a body was found in the area of Newport Beach just two hours prior.
Officers noted that the Lake Delton Police Department and Delton Fire Department were called to the area after the body was found.
Authorities have identified the body as 20-year-old Francesco Di Filippo of Chicago.

Francesco Di Filippo was boating with 75-year-old Luis Di Filippo of Chicago and another occupant on the Wisconsin River on Thursday, April 3, when the boat capsized. One occupant escaped to shore; however, Luis’ body was found a day later and recovered from the river.
“The Wisconsin Dells Police Department sends its deepest condolences to the Di Filippo/Schultz family,” Wisconsin Dells police Chief Nicholas Brinker said. “While tragic, we hope that the recovery of Francesco provides a measure of closure for them. I would also like to thank the numerous agencies, and countless volunteers and volunteer organizations that assisted in the search for Francesco over the past three months. Your efforts have been greatly appreciated.”
