ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – On Monday, Stage 1 Fire Restrictions were lifted in the Cibola National Forest & National Grasslands on the Mountainair and Sandia Ranger districts. Officials say the move follows careful monitoring of fuel moisture, weather patterns, and fire activity.
They stress to remind visitors to continue to be diligent during their visit and practice fire safety. Officials say leaving your campfire unattended is illegal year-round, and campfires must be dead and cold to the touch before people walk away from them.
Mt. Taylor and Magdalena Ranger districts remain in Stage 1 Fire Restrictions:
- Mt. Taylor Ranger District: Stage 1 Fire Restriction remains in effect through July 31, 2025 unless rescinded. (order #03-03-02-25-05).
- Magdalena Ranger District: Stage 1 Fire Restriction remains in effect through July 31, 2025, unless rescinded. (order #03-03-03-25-08).
The official termination of stage 1 fire restriction order for Mountainair and Sandia Ranger districts (03-03-00-25-12) is posted on the Cibola National Forest and National Grasslands Alerts & Notices website.
