Direct from the news desk. You heard it right. There is a possibility that if you use DirecTV you will no longer have access to WWE Smackdown. I guess it’s time to make the jump to streaming only service. We all knew the day would eventually come, and it’s only a matter of time before everyone ditches the ancient delivery system of cable TV, and opts for streaming only. Why not? It’s cheaper.
As per Ringside News, SmackDown has quickly grown to become WWE’s number one show – topping Raw on Monday nights. Who’d have thought the “democratic wrestling show would overtake the Republican”. Perhaps Donald Trump should become Smackdown’s new GM. This is “apparently” due to the storyline of The Bloodline (yawn) Since 2019, WWE fans could tune in to Fox every Friday night to watch SmackDown. However, it looks as though that may not be the case.
Fox recently launched a website called keepfox.com. On the website, Fox revealed that DirecTV may be looking into dropping the station from their packages. Oh no…
As per their statement:
“FOX remains committed to reaching a fair agreement with DIRECTV for the continued distribution of our networks. Despite our best efforts for months, we regret that DIRECTV continues to demand unprecedented special treatment that represents a wholesale change to our long-standing relationship and is out of step with marketplace terms. As such we are compelled to alert viewers who are DIRECTV, DIRECTV Stream and U-Verse subscribers that they could lose access to their favorite FOX programming beginning at midnight, December 2, including the NFL on FOX, the Big Ten College Football Championship on FOX, the FIFA World Cup on FOX and FS1, FOX local news, and more.”
Wether WWE remains on Fox is TBA. Wrestling fans, you like the rest of the world will have to wait and see what happens next.
