Speaking on the latest episode of his 83 Weeks podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff shared his belief that the entire situation surrounding R-Truth’s recent WWE release and return was a “work” from the beginning.
“It’s a work. It is a narrative. It is an act that creates emotion, a very specific, desired emotion. Therefore, it is a work,” Bischoff stated. “Has anybody really debated kind of like they did with the NWO, and it was Scott Hall initially?… That was debated as this is being debated. It’s a work.”
The only part of the story that made him question his stance was the involvement of R-Truth’s children on social media. Multiple outlets have reported that this wasn’t a work and R-Truth was informed his contract wouldn’t be renewed. However, after backlash from fans and the locker room, WWE President Nick Khan got involved in talks to work out a new deal with Truth.
“The only reason I’m not laughing myself out of the studio… is when you involve your kids and they’re out there, that that puts, yeah, I’m kind of back to center on that one, because that’s outside of the box of norm,” he admitted. “But by definition, it’s a work, and I think it’s great.
