You won’t see this too often. *** truck with *** crane attached to its rear suspended in air between two homes. That was the view we found along Roosevelt street in Cresskill. I kind of feel bad for him, but nobody got hurt. Glenn Lockhart owns the home where the tree was being removed. As for how this happened, he says, the crane operator seemed to underestimate what his machine could handle too big of *** piece. I’m not *** crane operator, I was watching it and I was looking, oh no, I hope they know what they’re doing well in the backyard. We gotta look at what that crane was holding onto. The crane operator was attempting to carry over the homes to the street when the boom tipped over, sending the truck up into the utility wires, we evacuated the residents on both sides of the crane and then the three houses directly behind the crane, there was *** concern that the truck would catapult forward or even backward and crashed into nearby homes. However, it didn’t and from there the crew with caminos towing stepped in and they got to work the crane was in the crutch of the tree, so we had to lift that and control the descent of the truck so everything could work in unison if the crane hadn’t lodged itself in that tree, it might have toppled all the way over, he says. Eventually after the truck was leveled, the engine was turned on so the Boone could operate and then be pulled in and after three hours of work the truck and the crane were once again back on the ground.
