EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ women’s swimming team was picked second in the New Jersey Athletic Conference preseason coaches’ poll.

The Lions received two first-place votes to claim the runner-up spot behind Rowan, which collected the remaining four first-place ballots. Montclair State was designated as the dark horse as the third-place team, while Kean, Ramapo, and William Paterson rounded out the projections.

TCNJ returns a host of All-NJAC performers from last year’s NJAC championship squad, including Zoe Chan (Swimmer of the Year) and Gabi Valladares (Diver of the Year). Chan was a seven-time first-team all-conference honoree and swam to All-America honors in the 100 fly in 2020, while Valladares swept first-team laurels in the diving events. Shannon Hesse racked up five first-team All-NJAC awards.

Head coach Jennifer Harnett ’93 and the Lions open the season on Saturday with an NJAC home dual against Montclair State.
