A 25-year-old woman was killed Wednesday in a crash on a rural roadway in the southern reaches of San Diego County, authorities reported.
The Dulzura resident was behind the wheel of an eastbound 2010 Hyundai Elantra that veered to the left across SR-94 east of Otay Lakes Road in Jamul for unknown reasons at about 6:15 a.m. Wednesday and overturned onto a roadside embankment, according to the California Highway Patrol.
“The driver … was not wearing her seat belt and was ejected and became trapped under the vehicle,” CHP public affairs officer Jasmine Lopez said.
The woman, whose name was withheld pending family notification, died at the scene of the crash, the California Highway Patrol said.
“This is an ongoing investigation,” Lopez said. “Drugs and/or alcohol are not suspected to be (factors) in the crash.”
