NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon after North Charleston police said she was found with a “large quantity” of drugs and firearms during a proactive patrol.
Two officers with the North Charleston Police Department were patrolling the EconoLodge on Northside Drive because of increased drug activity in the area.
While there, the officers saw a vehicle idling in the parking lot and made contact with the occupant, who was identified as 25-year-old Anisah Brown.
“Upon approaching the vehicle, officers immediately detected the strong odor of marijuana coming from inside. Based on probable cause, they conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered a backpack containing a significant quantity of narcotics and other illegal items,” the agency wrote in its Crimewatch app.
Police said the backpack had more than 39 grams of methamphetamine, more than 37 grams of fentanyl, seven grams of cocaine, cocaine base, 16 Xanax bars, and a large amount of marijuana.
The officers also recovered two stolen firearms.
Brown was arrested on multiple charges, including trafficking fentanyl, trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking cocaine base, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of Schedule IV narcotics, possession of stolen goods, and six counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
She was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.
