(The Hill) – “South Park” targeted President Trump and Paramount Global in its latest episode this week, poking fun at the president for targeting his enemies and at one point depicting him in bed with Satan.
The Wednesday season premiere of the hit animated show, which airs on Comedy Central, featured an animated and doctored photo of Trump continuously screaming and threatening to sue other characters for hurting his feelings or defying him.
The episode also showed the animated Trump naked in bed with the devil, and made jokes concerning the character’s genitalia.
The show, too, mocked media conglomerate Paramount over its recent settlement with the president, which came ahead of a planned merger with Skydance that requires the approval of Trump’s Federal Communications Commission.
The episode aired just days after the creators of “South Park,” Trey Parker and Matt Stone, reached a massive streaming deal with Paramount, valued at more than $1 billion.
In a statement to Variety, the White House blasted the show saying, “The Left’s hypocrisy truly has no end — for years they have come after ‘South Park’ for what they labeled as ‘offense’ content, but suddenly they are praising the show … Just like the creators of ‘South Park,’ the Left has no authentic or original content, which is why their popularity continues to hit record lows.”
Trump and the White House have, in recent days, leveled an increasing number of attacks against media companies, movie stars and other Hollywood figures who are critical of the president. Last week, Trump celebrated CBS’ cancelation of “Late Show With Stephen Colbert” (CBS is owned by Paramount Global) and later said he heard Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night ABC show was “next.”
On Wednesday, a spokesperson for the White House also issued a statement to Fox News Digital concerning “The View” and co-host Joy Behar’s criticism of the president.
“It’s no surprise that ‘The View’s ratings hit an all-time low last year,” the spokesperson said. “[Behar] should self-reflect on her own jealousy of President Trump’s historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off-air.”
