The Crimson Tide stayed on their recruiting roll with the 18th commit to the Class of 2026 and eleventh pledge in the last 30 days.
In a world of money-grubbing, social media presence, and a what-can-you-do-for-me attitudes, it is good to know that relationships still matter. The bond between Alabama and Nolan Wilson are a great example of that. The high 4-star DL celebrated the America’s independence by making his pledge to sign with Alabama football.
247sports ranks the Picayune, Mississippi native as the 99th best prospect for 2026. on3.com is a little higher on him, ranking him at No. 47 and the 4th best defensive lineman. Despite his classification as a DL, Alabama will likely use him as a Bandit (i.e. Edge rusher).
Wilson has a quick first step that gives him an advantage off the line of scrimmage. He has the flexibility and athleticism to work out of a two, three, or four point stance. He plays with his hair on fire and creates havoc in the form of sacks, tackles for loss, and forced fumbles.
Standing at 6-4, he has already put on ten pounds this summer to get up to 250 lbs. He will need to continue that trend to compete in the SEC next year. Current Bama Bandits LT Overton, Kelby Collins, and Keon Keeley all hover around 280. Jordan Renaud is listed at 260.
If you can imagine, the athletic Wilson also plays on his high school’s basketball and soccer teams.
At last week’s Rivals Five-Star Camp in Indianapolis, Wilson was lauded for impressive work both inside and out against the nation’s best offensive line prospects.
Regarding the relationship, the Crimson Tide was the very first program to offer Wilson back in October of last year. It was a tight race for his signature. Miami-FL tried to throw a LOT of money at him. But in the end, it was the people that won out and Bama defensive line coach Freddie Roach deserves all the accolades for this pick-up. This was a case of relationships meaning more than dollar signs, which is quite refreshing. Kalen DeBoer and staff are not just going after good football players. Good character matters as well.
Auburn, Ole Miss, and Florida were the other finalists. Sorry, Aubies. Nick Saban had nothing to do with this one.
[SIDE NOTE: The mascot for Picayune High School is the Maroon Tide.]
