An officer with the Murrieta Police Department has an especially keen eye when it comes to catching impaired drivers.
The department put out a post on social media reminding residents that they have a specially trained DUI enforcement officers in their own cars. Their main objective is to locate impaired drivers and stop them before collisions occur.
One member of the department, Officer Lindsay, is particularly good at catching these types of motorists. According to the social media post, Officer Lindsay made his 63rd DUI arrest of the year on the Fourth of July.
The 19-year-old driver was found to be “extremely intoxicated,” the post indicated. He also had a felony warrant out for his arrest and he was in possession of an unregistered gun.
“He was arrested at the scene for numerous charges,” MPD said.
Per the post, two other officers with the Murrieta Police Department have already made a combined 100 arrests for driving under the influence since the start of 2025.
“There really is no excuse for DUI driving,” the department urged. “Call a friend or get a rideshare. Endangering lives by driving under the influence will not be tolerated in Murrieta.”
