(KRON) — An injured hiker was rescued by helicopter at Alpine Lake in Marin County on the Fourth of July.
The hiker was stranded in a remote area of the Helen Market Trail, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office. Although a paramedic with the Ross Valley Fire Department was able to reach the patient by boat and hiking through rugged wilderness, an air rescue was ultimately ordered for the patient.
“Due to the inaccessible location, [the helicopter team] performed a 200-foot-long line rescue, safely extracting the patient and paramedic and transporting them to an awaiting ambulance,” the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office said.
