Brazilian winger Kenedy is heading back to Chelsea after Thomas Tuchel reportedly cancelled his loan spell.

Kenedy, 25, is expected to be on the plane back to London tonight, according to reports in Brazil. Tuchel is understood to have recalled the wideman after his lack of game time in Brazil. Goal report that Kenedy has been asked to cut short his season-long loan spell at the halfway point.

However, the player who impressed Tuchel in pre-season will not be returning to fight for a first-team place. Even with Ben Chilwell sidelined it’s understood Kenedy will be loaned out to another club.

Tuchel wants Kenedy to get more game time, having amassed just 10 appearances since returning to his native Brazil.

The Guardian report that the club intend to find a more suitable loan deal. Whether or not that will be in Europe remains to be seen, but he was linked with Shakhtar Donetsk.

UOL reported the Russians wanted to continue their modern tradition of signing Brazilians and were pursuing a January deal.

Kenedy also spent a successful loan spell with Newcastle United between 2017 and 2019.

Tuchel prefers Emerson to Kenedy

Elsewhere, Chelsea are also ‘forcing’ the return transfer of Emerson Palmieri from Lyon.

The Blues have been in contact with Lyon since it became apparent that Chilwell was set to miss the remainder of the season with his knee ligament injury. Emerson has proved to be a more than competent stand-in.

And as he is already on the club’s books, it make sense to utilise him instead of splashing out on another temporary replacement.

However, they let the Italy international go out on loan in the summer. And they don’t have a recall option in that deal.

They have therefore struggled to convince Lyon to part ways with him. L’Equipe, via Sport Witness, report that Chelsea are now ‘forcing their way back into the fold’.

All of the approaches from Stamford Bridge have so far been rejected. The most recent is said to have included ‘comfortable’ financial compensation. But privately he is understood to be focused on finishing the season in Ligue 1.
