DENVER (KDVR) — Smith Road and Sable Boulevard are closed in Aurora Monday morning after a train and semitrailer crash, according to the Aurora Police Department. An RTD train was evacuated after the crash as well.
Police in a 9:43 a.m. X post said all lanes of Smith Road and Sable Boulevard are closed in the area due to the crash. Police said there is “significant damage to rail crossing safety equipment,” with no estimated time for when the roads will reopen.

Three people on the train suffered minor injuries, and the semitrailer driver was not injured.
The RTD A Line commuter rail from Union Station to Denver International Airport that runs in the area is being replaced by shuttle buses from Central Park Station to 40th & Colorado Station, and the A Line as a whole is experiencing up to 30-minute delays “due to police activity.”
SkyFOX flying over the scene can see an RTD train stopped on the tracks near the crash with some of its windows smashed and firefighters entering the train.
Aurora police posted a photo of firefighters evacuating the RTD train.
Police said a large first responder presence is in the area.
Drivers should consider using Chamers and Peoria as alternate routes.
