ST. LOUIS – Two suspects who allegedly dropped off the body of a deceased man outside SLU Hospital earlier this week, allegedly stealing his car and phone in the process, now face criminal charges.
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office has charged Terrence Clark, 46, and Billie Claeys, 43, with adornment of a corpse, stealing a motor vehicle and stealing ($750 or more) in connection with the case.
According to probable cause statements obtained by FOX 2, the victim died while in the presence of Claeys. A short time later, Claeys and Clark reportedly drove the victim’s vehicle with him inside and dropped off the victim at SLU Hospital “without notifying proper authorities.”
Surveillance video from SLU Hospital reportedly helped police identify Claeys and Clark as suspects.
Both suspects reportedly continued to use the victim’s phone after he was abandoned. Claeys is also accused of attempting to pawn the victim’s phone, according to probable cause statements.
Investigators say the vehicle and phone were co-owned by the victim’s family members, and neither Claeys and Clark had permission to use the victim’s vehicle or phone.
Authorities requested a warrant for Claeys and Clark, according to Missouri online court records, but did not disclose if either one was in police custody.
