TNA iMPACT Results
TNA World Champion Trick Williams appears on stage to kick off tonight’s broadcast. The champion gets a mixed reaction from the crowd. Trick grabs the mic and immediately calls out Moose, who pinned the champion last week. He blames KC Navarro for the loss last week. Trick says it will be him versus “Moose’s big old head” at TNA Emergence next week.
Trick recaps his win over Mike Santana. He says he’s used to beating his opponents in their hometown. He mocks Moose’s family before promising to take out the entire Moose family at Emergence. It’s the perfect homage to The Rock’s promo on Chris Jericho from the Attitude Era. But before Trick can say more, Moose interrupts.
Moose waits little time in attacking Trick Williams. The champion gets cornered into the turnbuckle. Moose is about to hit the spear but Trick avoids just in the nick of time. Trick proceeds to showoff the TNA World Championship as he makes his way to the backstage while Moose stands tall in the ring.
Gia Miller is back on TNA iMPACT
Gia Miller is back on TNA Wrestling. Miller thanks Gaby for acting as her replacement while she was recovering from Tessa Blanchard’s heinous attack at TNA Slammiversary. Miller says they all are tired of Tessa’s “bullcrap” and vows to “f**king” kill Blanchard if she ever tries to put her hands on her – much to Gaby’s shock.
Tessa once again thanks Gia and welcomes Joe Hendry. Joe says it’s glad to have Miller back as puts her over as one of the toughest people in TNA Wrestling. Hendry then proceeds to mock his opponent for tonight, Mustafa Ali, for “hiding behind” his Secret Service. He says there are no secrets in TNA and he’ll prove he’s the better man against Ali tonight.
Mike Santana accepts Sami Callihan’s challenge
Mike Santana comes across Sami Callihan backstage. Santana says he heard Callihan’s challenge last week. He accepts the challenge for Emergence. Both men shake hands. Eric Young and The Northern Armory interrupt. EY mocks both men for their failure: Sami for failing to win against Moose and Santana for losing to Trick Williams in the Slammiversary main event that also featured Joe Hendry. Santana tries to get his hands on EY but Callihan prevails as the cooler head.
Steve Maclin (c) vs. Jake Something – TNA International Championship
The match ended in double count out after both men failed to answer the 10 count. As for the grade, this bout gets an A- because the ending was the perfect way to set up a future match. It’s evident this feud is far from over. Maclin and Something were having a hard-hitting contest until both failed to get inside the ring because they were too busy brawling outside. Maclin dropped a couple of f’bombs because he wasn’t happy with the outcome. Let’s see if we get a rematch at TNA Emergence.
Steph De Lander and Mance Warner get inside Santino’s office
Steph De Lander and Mance Warner want to talk to Santino Marella in his office but there’s no one insider. Steph gets an idea and immediately pulls her man inside. We know where this goes from here…
Cedric Alexander recalls watching TNA Wrestling in its heydays. He says he used to call the X Division Championship his birthright when he broke out in this business. Cedric puts over Leon Slater as the youngest X Division Championship, but promises to end his reign at TNA Emergence.
The Elegance Brand vs. Léi Yǐng Lee and Xia Brookside
- The finish of the match saw Léi Yǐng Lee plant M by Elegance with a spinning facebuster for the win.
Winners: Léi Yǐng Lee and Xia Brookside
Grade: B+
We’ve only seen two matches thus far but both have been nothing short of solid. The women of TNA continue to be the highlight of the promotion. M is wonderful addition to the Elegance Brand. As for Léi Yǐng Lee and Xia Brookside, it’s only a matter of time before they get a shot at the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship.
Caught in the act…
We see Santino and Arianna walk up to TNA Director of Authority’s office. They open the door and catch Steph De Lander and Mance Warner in the act. Marella screams that his office has been defiled. He says it’s TNA Wrestling, not National Geographic. Marella apologizes to Arianna for having to watch what she saw. As Arianna leaves, Marella opens the door once again to get a peak…
Ash by Elegance is pissed!
The camera takes us to the Elegance Brand’s locker room where Ash by Elegance is pissed at M and Heather for losing their match against Lei Yin Lee and Xia Brookside. Ash says she can’t deviate her focus from the upcoming TNA Knockouts World Championship match against Jacy Jayne later tonight. She tells them to leave as the segment caps off.
KC Navarro has an announcement to make…
AJ Francis welcomes TNA iMPACT fans to an Emergence edition of FIR$T CLA$$ penthouse. Francis says KC Navarro has an announcement to make. Navarro reveals he reaggravated his injury a couple of weeks ago. It’s unfortunate as KC is suffering from a torn ACL. AJ attempts to console Navarro but immediately changes tone by delivering quote from the NFL: “next man up.”
Francis reintroduces Rich Swann to TNA Wrestling. It’s been a year since Swann last appeared TNA iMPACT. Navarro is stunned. Francis says Navarro has always been a substitute. He mocks Navarro for failing to win the tag team titles at Slammiversary. He blames Navarro for costing them the tag team match, allowing Moose to pin Trick Williams last week.
AJ and Swann then kick the crutches out of KC’s hands. AJ tells a fallen KC to get away from his stage or he’ll send him all the way down to the concrete. KC gets up and reluctantly walks to the back as we see FIR$T CLA$$ back to where it all started, with Swann and Francis as the only members of the group.
Mara Sade vs. Vicious Vicki
- The finish of the match saw Mara Sade plant Vicious Viki with a Finish-Her for the win.
Winner: Mara Sade
This writer doesn’t grade squash matches. Having said that, TNA Wrestling seems to be just the right place for Mara Sade (formerly Jakara Jackson) to resume her in-ring career after a solid stint at WWE NXT.
Jacy Jayne (c) vs. Ash by Elegance – TNA Knockouts World Championship
- Jacy Jayne retains via DQ following a run-in by Masha Slamovich
Winner and still Knockouts Champion: Jacy Jayne
After the match, Jayne attacks Masha Slamovich and calls out the rest of Fatal Influence. Lei Ying Lee and Xia Brookside join the action. The rest of TNA Knockouts Division show up to clear the ring. The segment ends with Masha, Lei, Xia and The IInspiration standing tall.
The Hardys backstage segment
We get TNA World Tag Team Champions The Hardys in a backstage promo segment. Matt says it’s good to, once again, become TNA Tag Team Champions. He says it’s time to defend TNA’s honor. Matt talks about defending the titles in other promotions. Jeff says they are looking forward to whoever steps up to them at Emergence.
Santino Marella’s Emergence announcement
Santino Marella is on stage. Marella announces some big match-ups for next week’s Emergence. The Knockouts Tag Team Championship will be on the line in four way match. Santino completely botches Lei Ying Lee’s name by calling her Xia Li. Marella also books Steve Maclin versus Jake Something for the TNA International Championship. He then calls out The Nemeths.
Nic and Ryan Nemeth appear. Marella suspends the brothers for putting their hands on security last week on TNA iMPACT. He tells them they won’t be getting a match against The Hardys for the tag team titles. It will be The Rascalz against Matt and Jeff at Emergence. Ryan threatens to sue TNA Wrestling. Marella says Nic will be in action at Emergence as he takes on the Home Town Man, much to Ryan’s chagrin.
Next week on TNA iMPACT
The following matches were announced for next week’s iMPACT during tonight’s show:
- Leon Slater & The Hardys vs. Cedric Alexander & The Rascalz
- Matt Cardona vs. John Skylar
- Mike Santana vs. Eric Young
- Frankie Kazarian hosts “King’s Speech” with Jake Something & Steve Maclin
- The IInspiration vs. Myla Grace & Harley Hudson
Joe Hendry vs. Mustafa Ali
- The finish of the match saw Ali plant Hendry with a 450 splash for the win following a distraction by Agent Zero.
Winner: Mustafa Ali
Grade: A-
I really enjoyed this match. Ali continues to prove he’s one of the most consistent performer on the TNA roster. As for Hendry, he’ll eventually bounce back because he’s the biggest draw in TNA Wrestling at the moment. Agent Zero’s involvement in the closing minutes implies TNA have big plans for the biggest guy in Ali’s Secret Service.
Overall Grade: A-
Tonight’s show was a massive improvement on last week’s TNA iMPACT. This week had the right mix of segments and matches. Prayers go out to KC Navarro for a speedy recovery. The Knockouts tag team match and the main event were the highlight of the night for this writer. Looking forward to next week’s episode.
