Speedball Mike Bailey Shines Versus Jon Moxley
- Moxley wanted an opponent, and Speedball Mike Bailey stepped up.
- This match was a great clash of styles and opened the show well.
- Moxley won, but Bailey looked fantastic.
The opening match of AEW Dynamite featured former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley doing battle with Speedball Mike Bailey. Commentary explained that Bailey stepped up due to Moxley wanting an opponent, which was a simple booking call but one that added a lot of legitimacy to Bailey. This comes after a report from Fightful Select suggested that MVP had expressed dislike for Bailey, so it was very nice to see him get this sort of spotlight.
Despite their differing styles, Moxley and Bailey clashed well and showcased a lot of chemistry on Dynamite, battling in a back-and-forth contest that had the crowd convinced that Bailey was set to achieve a massive upset on multiple occasions. He played the underdog babyface well against Moxley’s more dominant and violent style. Moxley picked up the win despite Darby Allin abducting Wheeler Yuta at ringside, but Bailey was the star of the match here.

- Chaos ensued after the bell in the women’s division.
Alex Windsor outlasted Queen Aminata, Skye Blue, and Billie Starkz on AEW Dynamite to earn her spot at Forbidden Door 2025 to challenge Mercedes Mone for the TBS Championship. This match was very hard-hitting and each competitor got a chance to shine. The feud involving Aminata and Skye Blye continued, the interactions between Aminata and Windsor were great, and ringside Toni Storm and Athena got into it to continue their feud.
After the match, the TBS Champion emerged to face off with not only Windsor but with the woman who beat her at All In over the AEW Women’s World Title, Toni Storm. This momentary showdown allowed Athena to strike and lay out Storm, prompting a potential unholy alliance between Mone and Athena.
The Best Young Bucks In A Long Time
- The Young Bucks’ new gimmick is fantastic.
- Brodido have also become a highlight of the tag team division.
- AEW’s tag team division is growing in momentum.
The Young Bucks have been back to their best in 2025, having great match after great match, and now developing into their most entertaining characters in years. After some ups and downs with their EVP gimmick, the pair are now infectiously fun as annoyed, frustrated ex-EVPs with no power or money.
This week was the next step in their continued descent with another hilarious ring announcement, a pathetic piece of pyro, and more. They just so happened to also have a show-stealing tag team match with new duo Bandido and Brody King which was one of the biggest highlights of the night. In a shocking upset, “Brodido” won the match, taking advantage of a distracted and angry Bucks.
MJF Scores A Cheap Win Over Mark Briscoe, Brawls With Hangman Page
- MJF vs. Mark Briscoe main evented Dynamite.
- The referee didn’t see Briscoe’s foot on the rope.
- MJF and AEW World Champion Adam Page brawled after the match.
The highly personal rivalry between MJF and Mark Briscoe continued on AEW Dynamite as they clashed in a fun main event contest. After Briscoe fought to beat a countout loss, he was caught with a Heat Seeker. MJF pinned him, though the referee missed Briscoe’s foot on the bottom rope. MJF quickly removed it after the bell and celebrated a cheap win, keeping the door open for more matches between the two.
The post-match saw Adam Page save Briscoe from an attack, brawling with MJF ringside and in the crowd, adding more heat to their ongoing feud, ending Dynamite on a hot note.
