The Alabama Center for the Arts is pleased to announce its newest exhibit, The Art of Decatur Theatre: Big Blue World, featuring DreamWeavers Theatre and captivating puppets designed by Drew Sybert. The exhibit is featured in the Center’s Main Gallery. An artist’s reception with Sybert and the DreamWeavers Board will be held on Saturday, July 26 from 4:00 – 5:30 pm. The exhibit and reception are both free and open to the public.
The Art of Decatur Theatre: Big Blue World will showcase more than a dozen custom built puppets (including Nemo, Marlin, Dory and all of their friends) from a previous production of Finding Nemo Jr., as well as some of the crew’s favorite colorful, one-of-a-kind costumes created for the cast. DreamWeavers will also share photography and set pieces from the show.
Drew Sybert is a former performer for the Walt Disney Corporation as well as other reputable brands. He earned his Associate of Science in Graphic Design degree from Full Sail University in 2022, and has an extensive background in various mediums within the performing arts community. Sybert currently lives in North Alabama.
DreamWeavers Theatre seeks to help children foster a love for theater by providing experiences for the community to create, perform, and enjoy live theatre. They frequently perform shows at The Princess Theatre in Decatur, Alabama.
The Art of Decatur Theatre: Big Blue World will close on August 28. The Alabama Center for the Arts is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm and on Friday from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm.
