ST. JAMES PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A Vacherie man is in police custody after a traffic stop led to an alleged drug bust.
St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies reported that at 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, they pulled over 38-year-old Desmond Jamal Williams for a traffic violation near Church Lane and Chicago Drive.

According to deputies, during the stop, Williams was allegedly found in possession of marijuana, cocaine, crack cocaine, MDMA, THC vape and drug paraphernalia.
He was arrested and booked on charges of:
- Possession with intent to distribute marijuana
- Possession of marijuana/THC/chemical derivatives
- Possession with intent to distribute MDMA
- Possession with intent to distribute cocaine
- Possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine
- Possession or distribution of drug paraphernalia
- Traffic violations
“Thanks the patrol deputies and assisting detectives with the Special Investigations
Division for their dedication in getting dangerous drugs off the streets of St. James Parish,” said Sheriff Claude J. Louis Jr.
