The Tarbell Center for AI Journalism has reopened Tarbell Grants: $1,000 to $20,000 reporting grants for original, in-depth reporting on artificial intelligence and its societal impacts from experienced journalists.
We’re hoping to enable reporting that holds frontier artificial intelligence companies accountable, tracks the influences shaping AI policy, investigates how governments and militaries are using AI, or otherwise helps the public make sense of AI’s implications.
To apply, go here tarbellcenter.org/grants.
Funding can cover any reporting cost, including journalists’ time. Freelancers or staff reporters worldwide are eligible.
The deadline to apply is March 8, 2026.
