A suspect was arrested in the deadly shooting of a man in Riverside County.
The suspect was identified as Cecilio Nando-Gonzalez, 28, of Coachella, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
On July 7, deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon at a home on the 84000 block of Avenue 51 in Coachella shortly after 10 a.m.
Arriving deputies found the victim, Gustavo Melendrez-Hernandez, 29, of Coachella, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Paramedics transported him to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries three days later.
Detectives later identified Nando-Gonzalez as the primary suspect in the fatal shooting. He was taken into custody for attempted murder and booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility.
Further details, including a motive for the deadly shooting or how the suspect and victim were known to each other, were not released.
