MPR News reports: The House has approved a Trump administration plan to rescind $9 billion in previously allocated funds, including $1.1 billion for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting — a move that cuts all federal support for NPR, PBS and their member stations — and about $7 billion in foreign aid.
In Minnesota, that funding totals $17,228,752 across 16 organizations, from small stations including KMOJ in Minneapolis to MPR’s statewide network. Federal funding represents about 6 percent of MPR’s budget. For smaller stations, it can represent 30 to 50 percent of their budgets.

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office says Cristian Orea, 39, is also charged with third- and fourth-degree DWI — a gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor, respectively — as well as a misdemeanor charge of carrying a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.

The settlement, approved unanimously by the Ramsey County Board on July 8, resolves a lawsuit filed by a woman who was sexually assaulted in 2020 by guard Rogeric Hankins while being transported across the country in handcuffs and shackles.
KTTC reports: A new housing report from the Coalition for Rochester Area Housing states progress is slow but steady in providing affordable housing for Olmsted residents.
The report states the number of expected homes by 2035 remains stagnant from the 2020 version of the report, staying around 18,000. However, the demand for affordable housing has gone down 26% during that same time.
