A 53-year-old woman was found dead in a Waldoboro home Saturday, and Maine State Police are investigating it as a homicide.
Waldoboro Police responded to a home on Genthner Road after receiving a 911 call from a person checking on the well being of woman who lived there.
Waldoboro police officers and Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies responded and found the body of an adult woman, Shannon Moss, public information officer for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said in a news release Sunday.
Town police requested help from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit — Central, which responded and started the investigation.
Following an autopsy Sunday at the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, the victim has been identified as Levern Kelley, 53, of Waldoboro.
Moss said the manner of death has been ruled a homicide; the cause of death is not being released at this time.
Moss said there is no known danger to the public.
Genthner Road, located in a wooded section of the town, runs between Duckpuddle Road almost to Bremen Road near Eugley Corner.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further details were available Sunday night.
