The location might be changing, but not the spirit of the event. For the last nine years, the Italian Chef Charity Night has raised funds for non-profit associations across the Florence area with an annual event held at Forte Belvedere. This year, the event featuring 16 chefs from all over Tuscany will take place on September 9 on the rooftop of The Social Hub Belfiore.
The evening includes tastings of signature dishes by Michelin-starred chefs Vito Mollica (Atto di Vito Mollica), Francesco Nunziata (Castello di Fighine), Giovanni Luca Di Pirro (La Torre – COMO Castello del Nero), Ariel Hagen (Saporium), Iside De Cesare (La Parolina), Marco Cahssai (Atman), Alessandro Rossi (Gabbiano 3.0) and Antonello Sardi (Serrae Villa Fiesole). Also featured are returning veterans Filippo Saporito (La Leggenda dei Frati), Edoardo Tilli (Podere Belvedere), Andrea Candito (Golden View), Marcella Schillaci (Bistrot Lo Zero, in Montespertoli), Fabio Nistri (Degusteria Italiana), Simone Caponnetto (Locale) and Andrea Campani (Il Borro Tuscan Bistro), while Stefano Ballarino (Il Verrocchio at Villa La Massa) is new to the lineup.
The evening, which has received the backing of the City of Florence, will also include gelato from Gelateria della Passera and Gelateria Dondoli; pizza by Zanfa Bros, ‘A Puteca and Lo Spela; desserts by Pasticceria Mille Voglie, Gabriele Rocchi and Tessieri catering college; focaccia and cantucci from Pane, Amore e Fantasia, truffles from San Pietro a Pettine, wines from Valdo and Ruffino, spirits from Spirits & Colori, Fonte de’ Medici water, and more.
A themed raffle will complete the entertainment with prizes such as stays in a suite overlooking the Ponte Vecchio and a room at The Social Hub; dinners at Il Borro Tuscan Bistro, Paoli 1827 and the pizzeria ‘A Puteca; an aperitif at Locale; cakes and panettone by Iginio Massari and Filippo Saporito; and a supply of decadent Noalya chocolate.
The charity selected for this year’s event is the Tuscan volunteers of the Civil Protection Operational Unit – Transplant Logistics, who recently suffered a theft that has severely impacted their operations. In 31 years, they have saved approximately 14,000 lives.
