NEW YORK – Ryan Kalkbrenner, a St. Louis native, is officially NBA bound. Kalkbrenner was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft.
Kalkbrenner was selected as the 34th overall pick in the NBA Draft, one of the first selections of the second round.
Kalkbrenner, a center by trait, spent his last five collegiate seasons at Creighton University. He is a four-time Big East defensive player of year. And last November, he added to his draft stock with a career-best 49-point game over UT Rio Grande Valley.
Creighton made five consecutive March Madness appearances with Kalkbrenner, reaching the Elite Eight once and the Sweet 16 two other times.
Kalkbrenner is a St. Louis native who was raised in Florissant and played high school basketball for Trinity Catholic High School.
