SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Global superstar Shakira is bringing her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour” to Snapdragon Stadium this week — and fans can ditch the traffic jams and parking stress by riding the San Diego Trolley straight to the show.
The Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is stepping up service for the sold-out concert, offering frequent Trolley trips that drop fans off steps away from the venue.
Trolley service details
Before the concert, Green Line trains will operate every 15 minutes or better, with additional service running between downtown San Diego and Stadium Station from 6:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. to accommodate early-arriving concertgoers.
After the show, Green Line service will continue every 15 minutes or better in both directions, with extra trains added as needed to help clear post-concert crowds smoothly and efficiently.
The UC San Diego Blue Line will also run every 15 minutes or better until midnight. In addition, two late-night trips will be added: one departing at 11:49 p.m. from America Plaza to UTC, and another at 12:22 a.m. from 12th & Imperial headed to San Ysidro.
On the Copper Line trains will depart from El Cajon Transit Center toward Santee every 15 minutes until 11:10 p.m. To support late-night travelers, two bonus trips will be offered at 11:40 p.m. and 12:18 a.m.
Easy fare poptions
Concertgoers have two quick and easy ways to pay.
First, there’s the PRONTO App, where travelers can load at least $5 for an adult round-trip fare and tap their phone at a station validator before boarding.
Another option is contactless payment. Tap a credit card, phone or smartwatch directly on the validator for a $2.50 one-way fare (valid for two hours).
Note: Each rider needs their own payment method.
Free parking options
Free parking is available at several MTS Park & Ride lots, including:
- Old Town Transit Center (400+ spots, overflow available evenings/weekends across the street at Caltrans – 300+ more)
- Grossmont Transit Center (220 spots)
- El Cajon Transit Center (400+ spots)
- Amaya Drive Station (236 spots)
With high energy expected at the concert, MTS encourages fans to plan ahead, leave early, and let the Trolley take them to the rhythm of the night — no traffic jams included.
