How did he save that! Marco Asensio volleys it from just a few yards out, but Sheriff goalkeeper Giorgos Athanasiadis does ever so well to get there and make the stop.

Real Madrid have now made all five of their substitutions, sending on Marcelo, Lucas Vazquez, Nacho, Antonio Blanco and Marco Asensio. They’ll see this one out.

It’s now four saves overall for Courtois this evening, who has been kept busy by this brave Sheriff side. Thill gives the Belgian something to do this time around.
Minute 68: A flurry of chances for Sheriff
Sheriff come very close to making it 3-1. First, Adam Traore draws a save from Courtois, before Cristiano strikes the post. Sheriff keep pushing, but Courtois is eventually able to gather.
Minute 64: Alaba goes down injured
There’s some bad news for Real Madrid as David Alaba goes down with an injury. He has to come off, with Nacho coming on for the Austrian. That’ll worry fans of Los Blancos.
Minute 62: Gustavo Dulanto almost heads in
Sheriff Tiraspol win a corner and Gustavo Dulanto jumps to where Courtois is, getting to the ball ahead of the Belgian. But, his headed effort flies just over the Real Madrid crossbar.
Minute 55: GOAL!!! BENZEMA MAKES IT THREE!!!
That’s surely it confirmed now. Karim Benzema finishes from the edge of the area after receiving a pass from Ferland Mendy, making it 3-0. Expect some substitutions soon.
Minute 49: A shot from Costanza
Fernando Costanza gets forward for Sheriff and he tries his luck, although his shot trickles well wide in the end. Sheriff aren’t the kind of team to wave a white flag. They’ll try to make a game of this.

Here we go then for the second half of Sheriff vs Real Madrid. There are no substitutions at half time, but if Real Madrid can build up an even bigger lead then they might look to rest some players.

Real Madrid are in complete control against the Moldovan champions, with David Alaba and Toni Kroos scoring the goals, even if each had a little luck involved. It’s 2-0 and Los Blancos are cruising.

Real Madrid work a great shooting opportunity for Toni Kroos, whose strike bounces down off the crossbar. But, it crossed the line before bouncing away and it stands to make it 2-0.
Minute 43: Casemiro breaks up a Sheriff counter attack
Sheriff try to launch a counter attack, but they’re very slow to do so. Real Madrid get bodies back and one of them is Casemiro, who steals back possession.
Minute 41: Carvajal volleys over
Dani Carvajal has a crack now, getting to a cross that’s too long and volleying fiercely. But, his attempt is too high and flies just over the Sheriff Tiraspolcrossbar.
Minute 39: Rodrygo plays on without his boot
Rodrygo has been one of the most active players so far and he keeps playing on even after losing his boot, trying to win the ball back for his side. The fans will love that kind of commitment. Now he has his boot back and can keep creating danger.
Minute 32: Courtois makes his first save
Sebastien Thill was the hero for Sheriff in the first game and he gets his side’s first shot of the evening here. But, his long-range effort is comfortable for Courtois.
Minute 29: GOAL!!! A DEFLECTED FREEKICK FOR A REAL MADRID LEAD!!!
Real Madrid have the lead in Tiraspol. Casemiro wins a freekick, which David Alaba takes. It takes a wild deflection off the wall on the way through and nestles into the back of the net. It’s 1-0.
Minute 23: Benzema heads over
Rodrygo collects the ball inside the area and dinks a cross towards Benzema. The Frenchman can’t make a clean connection because Carvajal is there too and the chance is wasted.
Minute 17: Athanasiadis denies Rodrygo
Real Madrid get forward again, once more electing to go down the right. Dani Carvajal slides it for Rodrygo, but Giorgos Athanasiadis gets down low to save.
Minute 10: Benzema turns it in… but he’s offside
Toni Kroos takes a shot and Benzema is there to turn in the rebound after a save. But, he was a yard offside and it is quickly ruled out.
Minute 8: Rodrygo almost plays in Benzema
Real Madrid have settled down now and Rodrygo finds some space on the right. He almost sets up Benzema for a tap-in, but Danilo Arboleda is there to cut it out.
Minute 3: An ambitious start from Sheriff
Sheriff make the first foray forward. They can’t quite work a shot, but they get into the Spanish side’s penalty area early on, before winning a freekick in a dangerous position too, although it comes to nothing.

It’s the second ever meeting between Sheriff Tiraspol and Real Madrid, with the Spanish side looking for a much better result than last time. Let’s see if they can get it.
