The city is set to have a sunny summer Pride weekend, but not without some thunderstorms Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
A warm front is expected to move north through the city Saturday and bring with it warm temperatures and sun, according to NWS meteorologist Brian Ciemnecki. He says temps may creep into the mid 80’s and make the day feel like a proper June day in and around the city.
But as the sun sets and evening rolls in, so will some storms, Ciemnecki said. The city is expected to get some rain and thunder overnight as a cold front moves through. Ciemnecki emphasized there’s no need to worry about severe weather, just the occasional intense bouts of rain.
“Of course, any thunderstorm can produce some quick, locally heavy downpours,” Ciemnecki said.
Sunday is looking similar to Saturday, with temperatures potentially peaking just slightly below 90 degrees, without too much rain for revelers in the NYC Pride parade.
As the 4th of July approaches there’s a good chance the weather will stay sunny with a little bit of rain scattered throughout the week.
