- Succeeds KC Ang who previously served in this role
- Appointment ushers in a new phase in strengthening SEA’s global semiconductor role
SEMI Southeast Asia has announced the appointment of Bock KL (pic), senior vice president, backend operations at SanDisk, as the new chair of the SEMI Southeast Asia regional advisory board, succeeding KC Ang. Ang, who has served with distinction, will now be conferred the title of emeritus advisor in recognition of his longstanding leadership and service.
The announcement was made during the SEMI Southeast Asia Q3 regional advisory board meeting, where members gathered to mark the leadership transition.
Under Ang’s stewardship, SEMI Southeast Asia expanded its influence, strengthened cross-border collaboration, and championed industry growth across the region. His decade of leadership was marked by strong engagement with policymakers, robust member advocacy, and transformative initiatives that shaped Southeast Asia’s semiconductor ecosystem.
Bock brings a wealth of experience in the semiconductor and electronics industry, along with a proven track record of driving regional innovation and strategic partnerships. As the newly appointed chair, he will guide SEMI Southeast Asia’s mission to promote innovation, collaboration, talent development, and ecosystem resilience.
“I’m honoured to step into this role and build on the strong foundation laid by KC Ang, whose vision and dedication have made SEMI Southeast Asia a key player in the regional semiconductor landscape. Southeast Asia holds immense potential, and my focus will be on fostering cross-border collaboration, strategic partnerships, and the development of future-ready talent — all vital pillars for our industry’s continued evolution,” said Bock.
“Together, we will reimagine SEMI Southeast Asia’s role — not just as a connector, but as a catalyst for bold innovation, resilient ecosystems, and sustainable growth. This is our moment to help shape the future of technology, from Southeast Asia to the world,” he added.
The Southeast Asia advisory board provides strategic guidance on SEMI Southeast Asia’s programmes aimed at advancing members’ business interests and addressing key challenges across the electronics manufacturing and design supply chain. Its mission is to strengthen the financial, market, and technological competitiveness of SEMI member companies operating in the region.
In recognition of his contributions, Ang was presented with an emeritus plaque by Linda Tan, president of SEMI Southeast Asia.
“It has been an honour to serve this vibrant community of innovators and changemakers. I’m grateful for the trust and collaboration extended to me over the years. As I pass the baton to Bock, I do so with full confidence in his ability to lead SEMI Southeast Asia into its next chapter,” said Ang.
Linda Tan added, “KC’s leadership has been instrumental in establishing SEMI Southeast Asia as a trusted voice in the global semiconductor industry. We are deeply thankful for his service. As we welcome Bock as our new chair, we look forward to a future shaped by his deep expertise and collaborative spirit.”
Bock’s appointment marks a new chapter in SEMI Southeast Asia’s ongoing journey to elevate the region’s standing in the global semiconductor arena.
