Jake Paul has signed three-weight world champion and reigning WBO lightweight title holder Terri Harper to Most Valuable Promotions (MVP).
The coup further reinforces the commitment of Paul’s promotional outfit to help develop women’s boxing.
Seven-weight world champion Amanda Serrano signed an unprecedented lifetime deal with MVP earlier this year, while undisputed super featherweight queen Alycia Baumgardner is among the long list of pound-for-pound talents to have crossed over.
Harper becomes the sixth British female to join MVP after Ellie Scotney, Chantelle Cameron, Savannah Marshall, Ramla Ali, and Shannon Courtenay.
MVP has made it a priority to break into the British market, and the acquisition of the island’s only female three-weight world champion is a big power play.
“I am excited to join the movement of women’s boxing at MVP,” said Harper.
“Nakisa Bidarian and Jake Paul are doing great things for the sport of boxing and for women in particular.
“I’m looking forward to some big nights and big fights ahead. Let’s go!”
Harper picked up her first world title, the WBC super-featherweight belt, in her tenth fight against Finnish pioneer Eva Wahlstrom.
A hard-fought draw with Olympic medallist Natasha Jonas at the Matchroom Fight Camp followed, before she was eventually dethroned by Baumgardner in November 2021.
As the dust settled, Harper made the brave decision to move up four weight classes to challenge Hannah Rankin for the WBA super-welterweight belt.
The gamble paid off, as Harper got her hand raised via unanimous decision to become a two-weight world champion.
After being held to a draw by Cecilia Braekus in a WBA and WBO unification clash, Harper moved down to welterweight to challenge Sandy Ryan for the WBO belt last March.
Harper was retired on her stool at the end of the fourth round by her bigger foe, prompting the Denaby Main boxer to rethink her choice of weight.
Harper dropped to a more natural division six months later to box Rhiannon Dixon for the WBO lightweight belt.
She produced a much-improved display to earn the points victory and be crowned a three-weight world champion.
“Terri has proven herself as a world champion across three weight classes, cementing her status as both a highly-versatile pound-for-pound athlete and one of the most respected names in British boxing,” said MVP co-founders Paul and Nakisa Bidarian in a joint statement.
“The UK is a top priority for MVP, and Terri’s pedigree and power are a perfect fit for our growing international platform.
“With her addition alongside Ellie Scotney, Chantelle Cameron, Savannah Marshall, Ramla Ali, and Shannon Courtenay, we’re assembling a powerhouse roster of British talent that will command global attention and deliver some of the biggest fights in women’s boxing.”
