The Loudoun County Department of General Services will host a public hearing June 27, 2025, on an amendment to the Solid Waste Management Plan, which increases the permitted capacity of the Loudoun County Solid Waste Management Facility. The meeting will be held Friday, June 27, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., in the first-floor conference room at 801 Sycolin Road in Leesburg.
The capacity of the Loudoun County landfill for disposal of construction and demolition debris was increased through a permit modification in 2020 by 6,140,000 cubic yards, which is estimated to provide capacity for construction and demolition debris for 46 years. The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality requires the county to make a “major amendment” to the countywide Solid Waste Management Plan to reflect this permitted increase in capacity.
The Solid Waste Management Plan provides an integrated strategy for the management of nonhazardous solid waste generated within the Loudoun County Solid Waste Management Planning District. The district is comprised of all unincorporated and incorporated areas within Loudoun County, including the towns of Hamilton, Hillsboro, Leesburg, Lovettsville, Middleburg, Purcellville and Round Hill.
Information summarizing the changes to the plan will be provided to solicit feedback from those in attendance at the public hearing. In addition to providing comments at the meeting, members of the public will be able to submit an online comment form, which will be available online following the meeting at loudoun.gov/WasteManagement through July 11, 2025.
