(FOX 5/KUSI) — With more than 100,000 people expected to crowd the convention center and streets of downtown San Diego for this year’s Comic-Con, restaurants and hotels are gearing up in preparation.
“We prepare ourselves almost for a Super Bowl,” said Francesca Ramirez with the Hilton Gaslamp Quarter.
Drone video shows billboards being erected on buildings, including hotels and Petco Park.
“As I’m driving into the Gaslamp, you can feel the energy in the air,” said Ramirez.
Crews are putting up road closure signs, security is patrolling the streets and cranes are helping lift props to second and third-story buildings.
“We can’t run out of chicken, fries, nothing at this point. We are over-ordering to make sure we will be good,” said Jesse Juarez, general manager of Houston’s Hot Chicken.
Juarez says this will be his first Comic-Con at the location. The restaurant just opened in October and he says all hands are on deck.
