The comments were a reaction to Flair being quizzed about the removal of his image from WWE’s signature.
Ric Flair once again has his own podcast and, unsurprisingly, The Nature Boy has already made a number of eye-opening claims after just two episodes. During this week’s episode, the 16-time World Champion had some pretty damning things to say about WWE. Flair was granted his release from the company earlier this year and has revealed he will never work for the promotion again while Nick Khan is there calling some of the shots.
Sign Away His IP On Life Support
One rather shocking claim Flair made during this week’s episode of Woooo Nation Uncensored was that WWE apparently tried to claim the rights to his intellectual property while he was hospitalized. “After they asked me to sign my intellectual property to them while I was on life support, nothing that company does surprises me,” Flair said on the podcast.
The two-time Hall of Famer is presumably referencing when he was fighting for his life during the summer of 2017. Flair was in hospital for an extended period of time and revealed afterward that he was given a 20% chance of survival by his doctors. As for the comments that prompted him to tell the story above, they came after he was asked for his feelings about being removed from the signature WWE plays at the start of its shows.
Removed From The WWE Signature
Flair wasn’t removed from the signature after he was released. The change didn’t come until an episode of Dark Side of the Ring painting the former World Champion in an unpleasant light aired. The episode, which covered WWE’s infamous Plane Ride From Hell, resulted in sexual assault allegations made against Flair years ago resurfacing.
WWE and Vince McMahon have proved countless times that no relationship between the company and a former Superstar is ever broken beyond repair. That probably counts more for Flair than anyone else. Not just because he is considered to be one of the best to ever do it by many people, but also because his daughter Charlotte Flair is currently one of WWE’s most valuable wrestlers.
The opening match was meant to close the show right up until the day of the PPV.
