(KRON) — A homicide investigation is underway, and a woman is in custody after a person found bleeding on the sidewalk later died from their injuries, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office announced.
The sheriff’s office said Bay Station deputy sheriffs were dispatched to a “medical police” call at 10:02 a.m. Wednesday near Market Avenue and 6th Street in North Richmond.
Deputies and fire department personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the person was later pronounced dead at the scene.
CCCSO said a suspect was soon identified as Terri James, 61, of Richmond. She was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
