DENVER (KDVR) — A man who was paragliding in Larimer County was injured after crashing his glider, according to a social media post from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. on June 30.
Loveland Police Dispatch received multiple calls about the crash that occurred just north of Loveland.
Multiple agencies responded to the area, including:
- Larimer County rangers
- Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies
- Loveland Fire Rescue Authority
- Thompson Valley EMS
The sheriff’s office said that first responders located the man and his paraglider in a field.
He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The man was said to be flying alone, and no injuries to anyone else were reported.
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Authority were consulted on the investigation of the incident, but the Federal Aviation Authority said that, based on the nature of the gear and the accident, the investigation would remain with local authorities.
The crash occurred on land managed by Larimer County Natural Resources. The agency will lead the investigation.
