Long Island will host the 2025 Firefighters Association of the State of New York (FASNY) convention on Aug. 7-9, with a confirmed return in 2026.
Held at the Hyatt Regency Long Island in Hauppauge, the event celebrates New York State’s volunteer fire and emergency-medical services personnel. According to Discover Long Island, which campaigned to bring the event here, the convention is expected to generate an estimated direct impact of $1.1 million for the local economy.
“Our organization is committed to driving economic impact through tourism, and our dedicated sales team works year-round to bring major meetings and events like these to Long Island,” Discover Long Island Interim CEO, Mitch Pally, said in a news release about the convention.
“We are proud to host these dedicated individuals who serve communities across the state and look forward to showcasing Suffolk County Long Island’s hospitality, natural beauty, and distinctive appeal to the FASNY members and guests in attendance,” he added.
Discover Long Island’s sales team attended the convention last year in Niagara Falls, where they presented Long Island as a potential host site and engaged with FASNY leadership and attendees.
FASNY President Eugene J. Perry Jr., a Suffolk County resident who is serving a two-year term, liked what he learned about holding the presentation on Long Island.
“We are ecstatic for the return of the FASNY Convention to the Long Island region,” Perry, a 46-year member of the Patchogue Fire Department, said in the news release. “We are proud to welcome firefighters and guests from across New York State back to our vibrant and historic convention.”
Perry said that this year’s convention “promises to be a meaningful celebration of service, tradition and unity. We look forward to a memorable and successful event and weekend that honors firefighting and inspires the future of volunteer firefighting.”
Attendance is projected at approximately 500 participants, generating an estimated 1,500 room nights across the host hotel, Hyatt Regency Hauppauge, and the overflow hotel, Jake’s 58 Hotel & Casino.
“Welcoming such a respected organization and its dedicated members is a privilege,” Hyatt Regency Long Island General Manager Michael Scandariato said in the news release. “We are honored to be selected as the host hotel for the convention and look forward to showcasing the exceptional hospitality and amenities that our hotel and local communities have to offer.”
The convention will kick off with a golf tournament at Wind Watch Golf & Country Club in Hauppauge. The schedule also includes a trade show and conference featuring vendor booths, educational sessions and keynote speakers. A dedicated youth day will offer programming for ages 12 to 18, focusing on leadership and fire-service training. Special appearances are anticipated from Theresa Caputo, also known as the “Long Island Medium,” and the musical group Peat Moss & The Fertilizers Band. A tailgate event will feature food, games and prizes. The week will conclude with a testimonial dinner, honoring the accomplishments of all past FASNY presidents.
