NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Some changes in the Atlantic basin to be aware of in terms of potential tropical development…
First area is nicknamed “AL96” and its located in the central tropical Atlantic.
The National Hurricane Center says, “Disorganized showers and thunderstorms are occurring in association with a tropical wave,” adding that “development of this system appears unlikely during the next day or two due to surrounding dry air.”
But that’s not the end of the line for this potential system as its currently forecasted to see some “gradual development” by the middle of this coming week as it moves northward.
Formation chances are at 0% for the next 48-hours and 20% for the next 7-days.
Second spot is nicknamed “AL97” and it’s located off the western coast of Africa in the eastern tropical Atlantic.
The NHC says, “a broad area of low pressure, associated with a tropical wave, is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms.”
The NHC is forecasting that the current environmental conditions are “conducive for gradual development” and that a tropical depression could form by the middle or later part of this coming week as it moves west-northwestward up to 20-mph across the central and eastern tropical Atlantic.
It’s possible that portions of the Carbo Verde Islands could see some locally heavy rainfall on Sunday and Monday as a result of this system.
Formation chances for the next 48-hours is 10% and 50% for the next 7-days.
