Police shot and injured a man they say came at officers with a knife in Queens on Monday morning, according to the NYPD.
Officials said the incident happened around 10:30 a.m., after officers responded to a call about an “emotionally disturbed person” outside a home on Parsons Boulevard near 85th Avenue in Briarwood.
When the officers arrived, police said the 22-year-old man was acting “disorderly,” pulled out a knife and advanced toward one of them.
One officer shot the man several times, and he was transported to Jamaica Medical Center in stable condition, according to officials.
The NYPD said it is investigating the incident and has not publicly identified the man.
Officials asked people to avoid the area and expect heavy traffic in the vicinity.
