The Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services announces the upcoming closure of the playground at Lucketts Community Center for a planned replacement project. The project is part of the department’s ongoing commitment to enhance community facilities and provide safe, accessible, and engaging recreational spaces for all residents.
To ensure the safety of patrons, the playground will be closed beginning on or around Monday, August 4, 2025. The public is asked to heed any construction fencing and signs placed on the property.
The new playground is anticipated to be completed by late Fall 2025, weather permitting.
Once completed, the new playground will feature play elements for children of all ages and will emphasize greater accessibility, including an Americans with Disabilities Act-accessible surface, accessible entrances and inclusive playground equipment with opportunities for inclusive play throughout and new sidewalks for better site circulation. The play structures are designed for two age groups: ages 2-5 and 5-12+. The 2-5 age group structure includes sensory and learning panels, slides, and play features suitable for different ability levels. The 5-12+ structure has a lower and upper level connected by a rope bridge, with slides of varying heights, the tallest being nearly two stories tall. Both structures are equipped with shade sails for year-round protection.
The playground replacement project will not impact the operations of the Lucketts Community Center.
Lucketts Community Center is located 42361 Lucketts Road in Lucketts. The center is housed in a historic 1914 schoolhouse and is home to the long-running Lucketts Bluegrass Concert Series.
