SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 54-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car while crossing a roadway in the Talmadge neighborhood early Thursday, authorities said.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 3:15 a.m. in the 4800 block of El Cajon Boulevard, where authorities say the woman was walking southbound across the street when she was hit by a 2011 Toyota Prius driven eastbound by a 69-year-old man.
Emergency responders arrived on scene and transported the woman to a nearby hospital with serious head trauma. Police reported Thursday that she is not expected to survive her injuries.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
