SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – On Jan. 29, 2026, at 1:16 a.m., officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Interstate 44 near the exit for U.S. Highway 65.
Mohammed Soghar, 36, of Kansas City, Kansas, was driving a 2017 Freightliner tractor-trailer westbound on I-44 when he hit a pedestrian, Wesley Osborne, 48, of Springfield, who was on the highway in the westbound lane.
Osborne died at the scene and his family has been notified.

This was Springfield’s second traffic fatality in 2026.
