A spate of power outages hit the San Diego Gas & Electric service area beginning Saturday afternoon, with the largest in the northern part of the city.
Almost 950 customers are without power in Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Peñasquitos and San Pasqual according to SDG&E’s online outage map.
No cause for the loss of power, reported at 4:15 p.m., has been determined, but it isn’t expected to be restored until 10 p.m.
Outages also have been reported in Rancho Santa Fe, El Cajon and surrounding unincorpated communities and south Chula Vista, but those are affecting far fewer customers.
The estimated times for power to be restored in the smaller outages range from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.
According to SDG&E, in Rancho Santa Fe and Chula Vista, the loss of electricity was due to damaged equipment.
