AJ Styles will be making his return to TNA at the Slammiversary event this week and now the reason behind TNA delaying the announcement has been revealed.
While speaking on Busted Open Radio, Carlos Silva revealed the reason behind the delayed announcement of AJ Styles’ appearance at Slammiversary. According to him, the team spent the entire week finalizing details and making sure the logistics for getting AJ Styles to New York were in place.
With wrestlers constantly traveling around the world, Silva said that coordinating everything was crucial. In the end, they felt it was time to stop teasing and officially inform fans. By confirming AJ Styles’ return, they ensured there would be no confusion, whether it was AJ Francis or AJ Styles. Carlos added that it gave fans in the New York area the best chance to plan ahead and see him live at Slammiversary.
“We went through that all week as it all came together. We wanted to make sure the logistics of getting AJ to New York were set. As you know as well as anyone, these wrestlers are running around the world. You gotta make sure they can get there. I just think at the end, we decided—you know what—let’s really tell the fans. We’ve teased it enough, and anyone can have a couple of days.
If you’re in the New York area, that way there won’t be any question of ‘Am I coming? Am I not coming? Is it AJ Francis? Is it AJ Styles?’ No—it’s AJ Styles. He’s returning, and we just wanted to tell everyone so that everyone could have the best chance to see him at Slammiversary.”
There’s also speculation that AJ Styles might challenge Trick Williams for the TNA World Championship at Bound for Glory this year. Regardless, we’ll have to see what Styles will do at Slammiversary, as there’s a ton of excitement for the Phenomenal One’s return to TNA in over a decade.
