
The Charleston Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating a hit and run collision that occurred near the parking lot of the Rutledge Cab Company restaurant at 1300 Rutledge Ave.
NORTH CHARLESTON — Police are asking the public to help them identify a suspect involved in a July 19 shooting that left one person dead.
Officers with the North Charleston Police Department responded to reports of gunshots on the 3000 block of Azalea Drive just before 8:15 p.m. on July 19, according to a statement from the department.
They found one person who had been shot. The male victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. The county coroner has not yet identified the deceased.
The police department is working to gather more information about the incident, according to the statement posted on Crimewatch. No suspects had been identified or arrests had been made as of 7:30 a.m. July 20.
“We are urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward,” the statement said. “Your tips can make a difference in solving this crime and in keeping our community safe.”
Witnesses or people who may have details about the situation can anonymously submit a tip online.
There have been nearly 30 fatal shootings in the tri-county area so far in 2025, according to records maintained by The Post and Courier.
