Lachlan Cartwright of Breaker reports on the search for a new editor of Dealbook, the New York Times’ business newsletter.
Cartwright writes, “We have learned that Edmund Lee, who had been temporarily overseeing DealBook returned to his role on the paper’s Trust team, who work to provide greater transparency to Times journalism, late last month.
“‘My role was always temporary,’ Lee told Breaker. ‘Andrew asked me to help out early this year. I had a blast working with the team, and we achieved some really great progress. It was just time to move on.’ (Lee’s bio on the Times website still states: ‘I help manage DealBook, the flagship business and policy newsletter for The Times).’
“DealBook has been overseen by a series of editors since 2017, including Stephen Grocer (2017-2019), Jason Karaian (2019-2022), and Ravi Mattu (2022-2024).
“Jodi Rudoren, who returned to The Times in April following a stint as the editorial director of newsletters at The Forward, is now leading the search for the new editor of DealBook.”
