A new pool and spot to take swim lessons could pop up State Ave. in Meridian.
Meridian Swim School is requesting to build an 8,788 square foot recreational swim school. The school would have a pool, party room, storage rooms, workspace, men’s and women’s locker rooms, and restrooms.
The application letter said the project site would need gutters, curbs, parking, and landscape work.
“The materials that give the building its character consists of stone, metal roof, EIFS, and heavy timber accents,” the application letter said. “These materials ensure that the look of the building will remain intact over time. Aluminum anodized metal on the storefronts, overhead doors, canopies, and trim provides complimentary accents to the other building materials.”

The city requires 18 parking stalls; however, the applicant is proposing 48.
“The proposed landscaping for the surrounding area of the buildings and parking lot is designed to create an inviting area for visitors; similarly, the trash enclosure area will be screened,” the application letter said. “LED lighting is placed throughout the site to ensure visibility for pedestrians.”
Surrounding the future building at 2730 E. State Ave. is the Hickory Flex building, Petra Construction, a vacant lot, and an office building. Blue Cross of Idaho campus is located just east and a Community Garden to the south.
