NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — New Orleans education leaders are touting school progress since hurricane Katrina.
New Schools for New Orleans said that are no longer any failing schools in the district, a 61% drop since 2005.
“We have a system that is able to unlock the creativity of wonderful educators, who are helping young people reach their enormous potential and they have a certain level of responsibility for doing that on a day-to-day basis,” said Dana Peterson, CEO of MSNO. “It’s one that’s showing incredible progress on behalf of those young people. But it’s also one that is able to unlock the creativity that we think is gonna get us to the next 20 years and is gonna be even greater than what we have seen.
